Mad River Glen, Middlebury and Crown Point

On the way back from Stowe VT I did a bit of railroad archaeology and sight-seeing

Mad River Glen

The photo sadly doesn't really capture the view and sense of high how you traveled on a winding road to cross over the mountains...

Interesting tree remnant at the overlook

Bristol Railroad

Between Bristol and New Haven Junction I scouted for abandoned railroad relics.

Middlebury
I stopped in Middlebury for lunch at a tavern and had a beer sampler and shepherd's pie - How British old chap! It was a nice spot: Two Brothers Tavern, Middlebury, VT

The Beer Sampler
Worth mentioning...
I stopped for gas at this old fashioned general store / gas station. The gas pumps are ancient and didn't take a credit card so I went in to pay in advance. The cashier said: just filler up and come back and pay!

Crown Point

The Bridge over Lake Champlain takes you into New York State...

Stowe - 2015

Once a year our family gets together at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe. An annual week timeshare arrangement is a lovely way to revitalize the family bonds...

Columbus Ohio Trip

Business Trip to Columbus Ohio

LaGaurdia Airport

It was thrilling to see NYC from the air.
The clouds were stunning! It was like you were hovering over the surface of some exotic frozen planet...

Columbus is flat!

I walked to the conference (FitBit is very motivational :-) )
The Columbus Chase Building is one of the largest buildings in the United States (behind The Pentagon)! Wikipedia Details >

Libations....

Never got to the downtown area - I heard it is pretty hip....

Coming Home

Approaching NYC once more...
 Spectacular aerial views...
Astoria - Queens
I made it a point to stop by and walk a bit of the old neighborhood. We lived here for quite a few years. It is very lovely and still retains its Greek identity and charm. I settled into a Turkish restaurant with a courtyard - it was delicious!
