My sister Kittie and I took a hike over at Waterbury's Little River Park to get a glimpse of the abandoned village that was once there.
We stopped by the reservoir dam and it was beautiful.
After asking the ranger for directions (which I initially screwed up!), we found our way to the head of the Dalley Loop trail and hiked just a tinny bit of the loop. The village was on the flank of a mountain and the Loop trail is a long slog up!
We hiked up as far as the Bert Goodell Farm
It a bit hard to see in the photo but this was the foundation

Deep carved, rocky ravines were frequent on the mountainside.

While I had a hot a sweaty mountain bike ride at Big River Park in the morning, Cris checked out the beach at Galilee (Narragansett). She was upset cuz it was low tide so we decided to head up and over to Newport for the rest of the day.
Newtown Ave Discovery
A lucky right turn on Newtown Ave off of 1A the Shore road, took us to this beautiful spot. A little reminiscent of the rocky shores of Maine, it was very scenic,
Driving north, we passed though Narragansett. The Pier area was real nice.

Along Ocean Drive there are lots of places to stop and wander on the rocks
The rocks were smooth enough to walk on but the layering patterns were fascinating
