Biloxi MiIssion Trip

-- February 25, 2011 --

Friday was our day off from fixing houses so Greg and I decided to head over to the Bayou...

Beauvoir

Beauvoir was the last home of Jefferson Davis and it was the site of his retirement.

Drive along the Coast to Bay St Louis

Bay St. Louis is a quaint little town, very near to the town of Waveland, the spot where the center of Hurricane Katrina hit the shore.

Honey Island Swamp Tour  - link >

Our interpretative boat tour took us into the 250-square-mile Honey Island Swamp. Honey Island, located 50 minutes from New Orleans in Southeast Louisiana, lies between the East Pearl and West Pearl rivers.

Part of nearly 70,000 acres of a permanently-protected wildlife area, Honey Island, earned its name because of the honeybees that inhabit the hollow old cypress trees in the bayou.
