Trip to Newport, RI

While I had a hot a sweaty mountain bike ride at Big River Park in the morning, Cris checked out the beach at Galilee (Narragansett).  She was upset cuz it was low tide so we decided to head up and over to Newport for the rest of the day.

Newtown Ave Discovery

A lucky right turn on Newtown Ave off of 1A the Shore road, took us to this beautiful spot. A little reminiscent of the rocky shores of Maine, it was very scenic,

Driving north, we passed though Narragansett. The Pier area was real nice.
Heading across the bridge to Newport...

Newport

Yeah its just a Kiddie Ice Cream train now but I am a sucker for train stations (all shapes and sizes!)
A picturesque mansion
Along Ocean Drive there are lots of places to stop and wander on the rocks
The rocks were smooth enough to walk on but the layering patterns were fascinating
rocks. water and waves...
These "marsh" bushes fruit looked like mini tomatoes
Bretton Point State Park
(monument info .>)
Cruising the downtown by foot
The finale - a freaking awesome fish dinner at the "Midtown Oyster Bar" :-)
My meal - cod
Cris' - shrimp
