South to Colorado Springs

Sunday we took a trek south to Colorado Springs but--lucky for us--we detoured first to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge and had a great encounter with a herd of bison.

Bison

It was amazing to see a herd up close! It was a little scary when we tried to leave the area as the bison blocked the road and they're as big as a car! Slowly they lumbered out of the way and we moved on!
The little one...
He was a curious one and came right up to the car!

Manitou Springs

We stopped for lunch at Manitou Springs at a small Turkish Cafe that Greg recommended.

Garden of the Gods

After lunch, we drove over to the Garden of the Gods and decided to drive through rather than hike as Greg needed to get back early to Denver.

Needless to say - it was great!

Evening Walk

My evening walk westward from where we where staying in Boulder to the foothills was pleasant and shared with animals!
